psa announcement

are you tired of junk mail? stick a fork in me, i'm done with it, so i just opted out of direct mailing, credit card, and insurance mailing lists here. one of them costs a dollar, but it's legitimate (i think!). anyway, this is not the most exciting post, but i thought it would be helpful. no more junk mail! ray!

seriously...

what's up with ramen noodle shops in new york? i walked past two of them on 1st avenue last night, and they were both packed with a bunch of people waiting outside. hello, you can get like ramen for 30 cents at the grocery store. just kidding. was there a write-up in time out new york recently. what the hecks? hey someone in chicago, open up one of these shops pronto because it's hot hot hot!

speaking of asian food (smooth transition, eh?), i am for real addicted to kimchi. love it. plus, it's a super food with lots of vitamins and something to do with fermenting that's good for you. the other day, i was in koreatown and discovered this really good restaurant, woo ri jip, on 32nd street. they have prepared food, hot food, and a noodle shop in the back with...ramen! i am loving the grilled tofu with vegetables for $4.50 with a small container of kimchi for $2.50. you can't beat those prices. no you can't. that's right.

coffee cart trouble is a-brewin'

so, i got my haircut a week ago or so pretty short. i told the stylist to cut my hair like jean seberg's in breathless, but of course, just ended up looking like myself, very shorn. anyway, i like it. it's easy to do, and i don't have to think about it once during the day, but my coffee cart lady seems to believe it may have all been a big mistake. every day, she has been recommending places where i should get my haircut which i find to be a bit strange. she also asked me, "are you comfortable with your hair like that?" i told her i was, but she doesn't seem to believe me...boo hoo.
