oh, it's only queens, right?
i'm seriously getting tired of this whole yankees pitcher airplane crash drama. the local news is treating it like a terrorist attack, and the funniest part about it is that i saw on the news yesterday that it's just made the city aware of the fact that a similar small aircraft could release some sort of biological weapon. duh! shouldn't this have been an issue like five years ago? oh wait, i just found this:
"A smart terrorist could load up a small, little plane with biological, chemical or even nuclear material and fly up the Hudson or East rivers, no questions asked," said Schumer, D-New York. "I hope this will be a wake-up call to the FAA to re-examine flight patterns, which, amazingly enough, they haven't done since 9/11."
now, there's this "breaking news" from cnn.com:
Fixed-wing planes have been banned from the East River corridor in New York unless the pilot is in contact with air traffic control, the Federal Aviation Administration said Friday.
let me just translate this for you. what they are really saying is don't fly near the island of manhattan, but over queens, who cares? there's this seaplane that takes rich people to the hamptons, and when i was walking home from the subway tonight, it was low enough to land on my street. grrrr!
p.s. i live in queens.
