notes from the book expo america 2006

so, darkpony and i attended the book expo america this past weekend to try to promote our 4n publishing children's books, including the adorable lola & fred, which is available here. anyway, here is what we learned:

• when you are sharing shelf space with the feminist press among others, the feminist press is most likely going to be the most aggressive in talking to passersby and prevent anyone else from talking to said passersby.
• in regards to children's books, elephants are hot, hot, hot. they are the new pigs or penguins.
• when you see a pirate on the escalator who looks exactly like johnny depp in the pirates of the caribbean, most people assume it is not johnny depp because they wonder why he would go to such lengths to promote the new film at the book expo america of all places. in my eyes, it was johnny depp, and he fooled everyone into thinking what they were thinking, and he got a big paycheck for it. pretty sneaky, sis!
• people really are just big freeloaders looking for freebies they can then sell on ebay and elsewhere.
• if you have a self-published book called the art of table dancing: escapades of an irreverent woman, it probably wasn't worth all of the money you spent for your own booth and the leis you were trying to give away.
• finally, if you attend a publishing dance party, make sure that the drinks are free and that there is not a cash bar.

watermelon butt

i just want to shout out a big f_ _ _ you to the people on the downtown e train yesterday around 4:45pm at the 7th avenue stop, car #4 (from the front of the train), near the two seater at the end of car #4 (closer to car #5). i was wondering why no one was sitting in that one open seat since the train was kind of crowded. of course, maybe i should have known better to look before i sat down, but you could have also freakin' told me that there was a fresh wad of watermelon flavored hubba bubba in the middle of the seat that i was about to sit on. i would have warned you, so f_ _ _ you!!!!!

i hate john stossel

he's a right wing know-it-all with all of his, "give me a break, that's a myth, and i can prove it and make lots of money at the same time" b.s. so, i was watching 20/20 the other night, and he had one of his ten biggest myths specials on to promote his new, stupid book. one of the myths was, "radiation is not so bad. it can even be good for you." then, he cited such examples as chernobyl and 3-mile island and made it seem like, "wow, what fools those people were for freaking out like that when not that many people actually died at the time of the incidents, though we still don't know if in the long run how many people contracted cancer because of their exposure to the radiation. oh well." he also made the great point that, "wow, the japanese didn't end up being mutated freaks even though we dropped a couple of atomic bombs on them. cool! nuclear war is awesome!" what a jerkbutt. then, darkpony emailed this article to me which just proves that john stossel sucks big time and does crap for research.

hey, john stossel, i've heard some myths about you. I bet they're false.
myth 1: if you have a mustache, you must give a great mustache ride.
myth 2: john stossel is not a douchebag.

the red train and yellow mustard flowers

I was looking at some japanese children's books on the internet last night and came across this description of a book called, the red train and yellow mustard flowers. it made me lol big time:

Army: HBO documentary could trigger stress disorder (cnn.com)

unlike memories of fighting in an actual, pointless war where if you were lucky enough to survive, you most likely sustained injuries that, thanks to medical breakthroughs, would have killed you even a decade ago? yeah, i bet watching this documentary is really going to be the reason a lot of these soldiers experience post-traumatic stress disorder.

so, darkpony and i love our cats. a lot. here they are as zombie cats, especially pony p. on the left. hilarious! (they really do like being held in that way.) too cute!

jamie sabuda?

there have already been two posts today about jamie sabuda aka iamjamiesabuda from my two favorite bloggers, darkpony and corporate-casual, so of course, i must follow suit, especially regarding this comment from corporate-casual:
