chewin' the fat and the thin

i really don't want this site to be a celebrity gossip site, but i do read my celebrity gossip on a daily basis blah blah blah. anyhoo, people.com had some real doozies today. first, these two "news" headlines were right next to each other which kind of made me chuckle for some reason:

Nicole Richie: 'I Think I Look Okay' & Real Corpse Found on CSI: New York Set

oh, and then they posted this picture on the left with this as the caption:

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE?
Earlier, Timberlake gets on the TRL floor with his "biggest fan" Danielle (left) and a few others as "SexyBack" plays. The singer had invited Danielle up from Times Square after she told the MTV crew that she had waited in line all night for the Virgin signing.

no you did not, people.com! girl, call your lawyer. pronto.

i will never forget... this article

i haven't criticised the new york times in a while because frankly, i have pretty much given up reading newspapers of any kind, but seriously, this article is the absolute worst. is it trying to be dramatic with its short sentences? it's written like some 10-year old's book report, even though four "journalists" contributed to the article. let me just share the first paragraph with you:

Five years ago, on Sept. 11, 2001, terrorists crashed two airliners into the World Trade Center. Downtown smelled like Coke cans and hair on fire. It was televised live.

"Downtown smelled like Coke cans and hair on fire." huh? what? believe you me, it just gets even more ridiculous from there.

also, while we are on the same subject, the nyt asks you, the reader, the following burning question: Where do you live and how do you feel about the threat of terrorist attacks in your hometown? here are two of my favorite responses before i got bored of reading the posts.

this person wishes they were one of those writers hired by the government to come up with the most absurd terrorist plots:
It’s almost September 11 again. Who will ever forget? I think it’s a matter of time before terrorists blow up a movie theater on a big opening weekend. They will destroy the entertainment industry and force people into their homes, afraid to go out.

and the esl (english as a second language) award goes to (hee hee):
I think the American`s sense of security might be a bit lack, and should be more alert and changing man every few hours so they will be rested. Before everyone thought N.Y. would be a movie star place to live with a great school and awesome city with twin tower, but these days is a place where you could die in next minute if your not ready.

me like!

so, i've really been into street style for some years, especially when i was into japanese fashion. i have recently discovered some blogs that showcase street style from different cities around the world. i especially like facehunter because he's based in paris and posts photos often. right now, facehunter is in nyc, and i have to say that i've been a bit disappointed with the photos. everything is a little too mishapen cobrasnakes at last night's party if you know what i mean, and it ain't representin'. i like his parisian photos much better. also, check out the sartorialist and oslostil. i like both of these street style blogs, too. oh, and i don't like austin, tx, fashion at all. everyone is trying way too hard to be a wackadoodle.

plugging away

i know that no one really ever reads the other blog i post to for our kid's book publishing company, 4n publishing, so i'm going to plug our newest book here that is currently on-sale, is that funny?. oh, and is it ever funny. it's hiliarious in fact. listen to the "is that funny? theme song" here. thank me later because you are never going to get this song out of your head!
